Uniqly.io: the backend and the processes behind a marketplace that joins physical items with NFTs

The challenge

A marketplace that sells physical items with NFTs has to keep two worlds in step. On one side orders, payments, production and shipping, on the other tokens, wallets and smart contracts.

When a buyer claims the physical item, its NFT is burned so it cannot be redeemed twice. Every such step has to be booked, and every buyer has to know where their order is.

What we built

• A large part of the marketplace backend: orders, items and their NFTs in one model.
• Integrations with the smart contracts: minting, transfers and the burn when a buyer claims the physical item.
• Accounting processes: each sale, commission and payout recorded on its own, ready for the accountants.
• Business processes, from a new collection to production and shipping, with an owner for every step.
• Communication with buyers at each stage, from the purchase to the parcel at the door.

How it works

The processes run in Firecrux Automation: the system prepares each step, from recording a sale to the message for the buyer, and people approve what needs a decision. We describe where that line sits in agents in the back office.

New products plug into the same backend and processes, so Uniqly’s team can add them without rebuilding what already works.

What comes next

Uniqly now also gives brands NFC labels that open a product’s digital identity with one tap. We keep developing the marketplace with Uniqly’s team as it grows.
